Wow! Green Gathering! Had an absolutely amazing time this year, with the perfect pitch opposite the kids field and near the fairy glade. We had such a lovely time chatting to all the parents, who were able to to their feet up and sit on a proper chair with a cup of tea in a proper china cup while they watched their children play.
We were able to bring an extra 'extended family' in the form of Caroline - Emma's sister-in-law. She was an absolute diamond and powered through making sandwiches at every lunch and dinner rush. She is also now a complete convert to festival life. Welcome to the Kitsch Kitchen family Caroline!
It's always difficult to think of highlights when the whole experience was so fun, but here we go with our 'top 5 moments':
1. The lovely customer who bought so many of our Rock Buns that we sold out of them by Friday morning - seriously, good work sir! We promise to bring more next year!
2. The huge cheer that went up when Martin - Deb's husband - appeared on Saturday with more bread for sandwiches, more earl grey tea, and more marshmallows so that we could whip up some Rocky Road. With every item he pulled out of his rucksack (he'd cycled from Severn Tunnel with all this) all the people sat at the tables or in the queue gave him a huge cheer. In that moment, he was our hero.
3. The gorgeous Scottish family, who not only remembered us from last year, but actually had come to seek us out and see if we had made the gluten free 'pink cake' their daughter had suggested last year. We had. Added bonus that she thinks Emma's name is 'Kitsch' and specifically came to say good bye to 'Kitsch and Kitsch's mum' on Sunday. So cute!
4.The man who offered to help us open up the stall in the morning (it really is a two man job!) as he only wanted to buy his morning coffee from us.
5. Selling out by 4pm Sunday (although we were very sad every time we saw someone who wanted more cake - sorry guys) so that we could come and party with the rest of you lovely people!
Completely and totally the highlight of Kitsch Kitchen's year and we hope to see you all in the fields next August.
